Dealer’s Turn :
- Once all the players have acted, the dealer then reveals his face-down card.
- The dealer will continue to take cards till his total is at least 17.
- Whoever is closer to 21, without exceeding 21, between Player and Dealer will win the hand.
Showdown :
- If the dealer gets a Blackjack, all the players who don’t have a Blackjack, lose. Or,
- All the players who have a card total higher than the dealer but less than or equal to 21, win. Or,
- If a player and the Dealer have the same card total or a Blackjack, it’s a Push (draw).
Push :
This happens if the card total of the player’s hand and dealer’s hand is the same.Example: image
- A Player gets this option when the first two cards dealt to him are same.
- When a player splits his cards into two separate hands he/ she is required to place an additional bet equal to the first bet amount. (happens automatically when a player selects the “Split” option)
- Both the hands are treated as independent hands and winning or losing is deciphered individually for each.
When should one opt to Split ?
- Always Split 8’s and Aces.
- Never Split 10’s, 9’s, 5’s or 4’s.
- Split 2’s, 3’s and 7’s, unless Dealer’s face-up card is a 9, 10 or Ace.
- Split 6’s only if Dealer’s card total is 2-6.
Blackjack
- If a player’s first two cards are an Ace and a card of the value Ten (10, J, Q or K), hence leading to a card total of 21, this is known as Blackjack or a natural 21.
- If the player gets a Blackjack and the dealer does not, then the player gets a payout of one and a half times of his Bet Amount.
- If the player and the dealer both have a Blackjack in the same hand, it is then a tie also known as Push.
- This option is enabled only when the dealer's face-up card is an Ace.
- Insurance is basically a side bet where a player places exactly half of the original bet amount on Dealer's cards that the dealer has a Blackjack.
- If the Dealer gets a Blackjack or natural 21 then, player wins the insurance bet but, loses the original bet.
BUST
- When a player’s/ Dealer’s card total exceeds 21 they lose the hand immediately. This is known as going Bust.
- If a player goes Bust while taking a Hit, the dealer doesn’t even reveal his cards as the player has lost, already.
