Food and drink

Slowenian cusine is mixed cuisine of the Mediterranean, the Pannonian plain, the Alps and the Balkans. You can discover its specialities in 24 different culinary regions. Eat Ćevapčići and Pljeskavica or Paprikas (grilled meat is rarely missing from Slovenian tables!). Typical dishes like Zlikrofi (similar to ravioli) and Brodet are also popular (fish soup), Ajdovi žganci (buckwheat spoonbread) with sauerkraut in Upper Carniola, Karst prosciutto, Prleška tünka, Bobiči, Njoki, Nanos chees,...  Local bread and desserts are highly recommended; Gibanica is particularly good (rich cake), Potica (nut roll).
