Eat Kofta (spicy meatballs of lam or beef); Lahmacun (thin flatbread covered with a layer of spiced minced meat, tomato, peper, onion or garlic); Imam bayildi (braised auberbine stuffed with onion, garlic and tomatoes) or the omnipresent Kebab (dozens of variants are available).
Drik a cup of çay (tea, always served with sugar); and a glass of Ayran (a refreshing mix of yoghurt and water).
Accommodation
The country is great for independent travellers: there are pensions, private rooms and hotels everywhere, which are excellent vallue for money. Breakfast is usually included with all styles of accommodation.
Pensions attract most of the travellers, but there are also many hostels. The majority are independent adn the ones covered by the Local Hostal Association can be found at: www.hihostels.com
